It’s that time of year to dust off your lederhosen, sing-along to German oompah hits and practice those beer balancing skills. Birmingham’s biggest celebration of Bavarian beer, Oktoberfest, is happening in Digbeth this September. The outdoor bar, Luna Springs, will host a three-week extravaganza that revels in the world-renowned German festival.
Between September 16 to October 1, Luna Springs will have a makeover. It will be refitted with Bavarian decor, as well as have its own giant heated marquee for guests. They will be also serving up the authentic and award-winning Bavarian lager, Hofmeister, too. So forget about the Great British pint. They’re serving these in steins!
Live entertainment will also be provided by DJs and a Bavarian band. Expect all your favourite folk hits like ‘Bayern, Des Samma Mia’, ‘Hände Zum Himmel’ and ‘Ein Prosit’. Okay so maybe favourites is a bit of stretch. But trust us, you’ll be up dancing on the tables and singing out every tune by the end of Oktoberfest. And you’ll be humming these bangers in the shower for weeks after.
Every Saturday during the celebrations, Luna Springs will also host Big, Bad, Bavarian bottomless brunches. Tickets are either £35 or £45, and include steins on taps and a host of games led by Suzie Schnitzel and Frieda Frankfurter. It also includes a brunch dish – such as a bockwurst, kasekrainer or vegan frankfurter – as well as lots of other entertainment and live music.
“We’ll be throwing the biggest Oktoberfest in the city complete with a cosy heated marquee, a funky Bavarian band playing all the bangers and plenty of steins,” said John Lear, General Manager of Luna Springs. “It’s set to be a wild three weeks and there’s no weisn not to join us.”
The regular Octoberfest celebrations will take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are £10 each and include one stein on entry. To find out more about both Luna Spring’s Oktoberfest celebrations and their Bavarian bottomless brunches here.
