Bringing a taste of Tokyo to the West Midlands, a brand new Japanese restaurant is opening its fourth branch in Solihull this April. KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar, which also has restaurants in Bristol, Cheltenham and London, has branched out to the area located south-east of Birmingham to bring sensational sushi dishes, beautiful bao buns and more.
Located on High Street, KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar has undergone a full redesign and refurbishment and its doors are open from April 25. Designed with a vision to transport guests to the eclectic streets of Tokyo, KIBOU Solihull features trademark frieze panel murals and projector animations depicting iconic Japanese life and street scenes created by Gloucestershire artist, Martyna Sabadasz.
The 70-cover neighbourhood bar and restaurant will include a range of intimate dining areas, spacious lounge, standalone marble decked bar, and open sushi kitchen with high top seating. Plus, the Japanese restaurant will also boast an additional terrace outdoors to seat 25 people.
The décor features a range of natural stone, wood and marble finishes against a backdrop of traditional Japanese block print fabrics, neon signage and dramatic lighting. And in true KIBOU style, Japanese foliage will play an important role throughout the venue, with a network of yellow leaves featured across the eatery’s façade.
And if the restaurant aesthetic is not enough, KIBOU will be bringing a banging menu centred around their signature sushi rolls, such as their volcano roll- salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and served with KIBOU house sauce. The menu will also include an ample selection of classic and contemporary Japanese dishes like steaming bowls of ramen, made with pork, chicken or vegan broth; freshly prepared katsu curry; and crisp tempura, including softshell crab.
Plus, KIBOU’s menu features a choice of pillowy steamed bao buns such as marinated duck with teriyaki sauce; chicken kara-age with sriracha mayo; and shiitake mushroom tempura with tonkatsu sauce. The Tokyo-inspired restaurant will also be serving gyoza dumplings, poké bowls, and sushi dishes such as temaki (hand rolled sushi in a cone shape); sashimi; California rolls and nigiri.
The new Solihull restaurant also boast plenty of options for vegans such as grilled red pepper nigiri; mixed vegetable California rolls; tofu and vegetable ramen; and shiitake mushroom skewers in teriyaki sauce. Dessert wise, we’ve got our eyes on KIBOU’s mini cinnamon and apple gyoza dumplings with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce; yuzu cheesecake and matcha-flavoured sweets.
To complement the restaurant offering, KIBOU also features a standalone bar serving an ambitious selection of Japanese whisky and sake along with Japanese brewed beers, authentic high-balls and signature Japanese-inspired cocktails.
