Winter may be on its bitterly cold way but it doesn’t mean al fresco dining is dead, even in the arctic climes of Birmingham. Instead of retreating indoors, one Birmingham bar and restaurant has announced the return of their brilliant, outdoor hangout spot.
Gas Street Social will be bringing back their enticing igloos complete with fairy lights, comfy blankets, and delicious grub, taking your evening of drinks on a chilly bench up a notch to become a memorable and cosy winter night out. (Plus, they look great on the ‘gram.)
Guests will be able to sit inside one of the restaurant’s outdoor dining pods and enjoy their range of warm offerings for either lunch or dinner and get into the festive spirit. The pods are transparent igloos, located on the canalside of The Mailbox, and can seat up to six people inside.
The igloos are decorated beautifully for the festive season and feature a large dining table and high-backed chairs for plenty of warmth and comfort. The igloos are suitable for any occasion, from romantic dinners to casual cocktail nights with friends, and can be reserved for up to two hours.
In these dining globes, guests can enjoy a sit-down meal and opt for either their seasonal set menu (like the two- or three-course menu featuring winter cocktails), or enjoy classics from Gas Street Social’s à la carte menu, which offers everything from flat-iron steak and chips to plant-based options such as their falafel and five bean chilli tacos.
If you’ve already made your own festive playlist, you can bang on your favourite Christmas tunes through the restaurant’s Bluetooth speaker. And it’s no igloo get-together without some delicious drinks including their infamous cocktails featuring inflatables such as the Pink Flamingo and The Unicorny.
Book an igloo for £30 from Monday to Thursday and £60 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The igloos will be available to book until January and you can book yours here.
