It’s been more than a hundred years since The Flying Scotsman first connected Edinburgh and London. A locomotive marvel, it later became the first train to reach 100mph on the British railway. Your chance to ride the world’s most famous steam train comes to Birmingham in 2026.
During the February half-term (February 18 to 20), the legendary Flying Scotsman will operate five trips a day from Birmingham Moor Street Station. Setting off at 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm and 6:30pm by diesel traction, the hour-long train ride will return to Birmingham under its own power, operating at mainline speeds.

From £48.76 per person, you are invited to step aboard an original 1960’s First Class carriage, with a welcome glass of prosecco or soft drink, and a grazing bag provided on your table. The Moor Street Scot with 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’ will then soar through the West Midlands countryside with picturesque views.
If that wasn’t enough, then there’s one more chance to ride the Flying Scotsman in February—for anyone looking for an extra special romantic evening, trainspotter or not. On Valentine’s Day (February 14), enjoy an unforgettable train journey, complete with a three-course dinner.
Prices for this one-of-a-kind ride about the Flying Scotsman start from £83.74, but a First Class table for two will cost £318. Departing from Birmingham Snow Hill, Birmingham Moor Street and Tyseley, at around 7pm, expect the journey to last around three hours.
