Between the World Cup and the Athletics Championships, the summer of sport is in full swing, and you can make the most of the excitement with a jam-packed three days of sporting family fun at the Festival of Sport. And even better still, kids can go free on Friday.
Kicking off from July 24 to 27 at Warwickshire’s Packington Estate (about halfway between Birmingham and Coventry), the high-energy event is aimed mostly at children aged 5 to 17, but there’s fun for the whole family to have—with over 20 different sports to try out, and chances to meet, train and play with Olympians.

The unique sport-based festival will welcome several sporting legends, including festival co-founders Will Greenwood and Austin Healey, most-capped rugby international Ben Youngs, sprinter-turned-bobsledder Joel Fearon and former Lioness Alexa Hunn-Phillips.
When does the Festival of Sport kick off?
Gates open at 1pm, with roaming entertainers, music and a food village to get the festival vibes going. From early afternoon, a whole host of activities will be on offer to drop in and have a go at, including ball sports, competitions, novelty races and team games.

From 6pm, activity moves to the main stage, with Mr Move-It, mini disco and story time – from Coventry’s own sports superstar Joel Fearon – before the evening kicks up a gear with live DJ and music from Rick Parfitt Junior and the RPJ Band. The event is set to close at 11pm. Weekend ticketholders can camp and glamp on site.
How much does it cost?
Friday tickets cost £35 for adults, while under-17s go free. Saturday and Sunday day tickets start from £29pp, while full weekend tickets start from £49pp (camping/glamping cost extra). Under 3s go free. To learn more about the Festival of Sport and to book, head here.
