We all have our favourite Disney film. Maybe yours is a cartoon from your childhood like The Jungle Book or Robin Hood; maybe it’s a stone-cold classic like Mary Poppins and Tron; or maybe you just love big, romping space operas like Star Wars. Personally, we’ve always had a special place in our heart for Newsies… Whatever it is, there’s no doubt the movie studio has captured our hearts and imaginations for generations the world over.
Next year, Disney will turn 100 and we’re expecting a fantasia of celebrations throughout. To get the party started is the announcement of a brand new concert set to tour UK arenas in 2023. Disney 100 will bring the magic of the movies to life with music from a live orchestra.
The Hollywood Sound Orchestra will perform the greatest songs from Frozen, Encanto, Aladdin and more to audiences around the country. While you can also expect highlights from the worlds of Pixar and Marvel. All in front of a giant cinema screen playing these iconic film scenes.
Since its founding in 1923, The Walt Disney Company has won an astonishing 14 Academy Awards for Best Original Song – starting in 1940 with Pinocchio’s ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’. So from ‘Under The Sea’ to ‘A Whole New World’, Disney 100 will take audiences on an adventure through Disney’s most magical movies.
Disney 100 will arrive at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena on June 6. Other cities on its tour include Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London and Bournemouth. A similar show, Disney in Concert, has enchanted fans worldwide with performances of legendary film scenes since 2016. But we’re expecting something extra special for the 100th anniversary.
Disney 100 will be presented in the UK by Senbla and produced by Semmel Concerts. Tickets are on sale now here.
