Snubbed for ages, the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas Truck returned to Birmingham last year for the first time in seven years. We’d almost given up hope on it returning to the Second City this festive period having failed to stop anywhere in the West Midlands yet. But out of nowhere, it’s turning up tomorrow (Friday, December 20).
Pulling up at the Bullring, the Coca-Cola Christmas truck will be in Birmingham between 12pm and 8pm. You’ll find it under a canopy of twinkling lights blasting festive music. Visitors can enjoy festive games and participate in a lucky dip with the chance to win exclusive Coca-Cola merchandise.
That’s not all either as a festive food truck that will serve seasonal treats alongside a Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. Plus, the opportunity to snap a seasonal selfie in front of the iconic red truck. The iconic red lorry first graced our screens in 1999, with its now iconic ‘Journey’ ad, but wouldn’t start touring the UK until 2010.
Of course, Christmas is as much about giving as it is receiving – and this year Coca-Cola is teaming up with the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste, FareShare. For every person who attends the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour, the equivalent of a meal will be donated with an aim of up to a total of 1 million meals.
FareShare works with the food industry to redistribute surplus food, which might otherwise go to waste, to a network of 8,000 charities and community groups across the UK. These groups include community centres, faith groups, homelessness shelters, refuges, and schools, all working hard to support people in need.
“Coca-Cola has and remains synonymous with Christmas, with many people eagerly awaiting the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour and Holidays Are Coming advert to create a little festive magic,” said Florence Wheatley, Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain Coca-Cola. “This year, we’re delighted to continue our relationship with FareShare to support its mission to reduce hunger and surplus food waste.”
“We hope that every person that attends the Truck Tour not only experiences the magic of Coca-Cola Christmas, but also supports FareShare, knowing that the equivalent of a meal has been donated on their behalf, acting as a little moment of kindness to ensure that thousands of people across the country enjoy a more meaningful Christmas.”
