Whether the Scarecrow was your favourite, the Lion gave you a fright, or you simply wanted to be Dorothy, it’s the cast of lovable characters and the film’s enchanting score that have kept the film close to our hearts. Thanks to Candlelight, you can rediscover its famous tunes at a historically elegant community landmark.

Music isn’t merely the soundtrack of The Wizard of Oz, it’s what tells the story and what introduces us to the characters. From songs like “If I Only Had A Brain”, to Dorothy’s joyful farewell as everyone sings “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”, the music brings a sense of magic to so many iconic scenes.

In the beautiful St Paul’s Church, a string quartet surrounded by thousands of candles will perform the classics like “Over the Rainbow”, “We’re Off to See the Wizard”, and more. An official teaming up between Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and Candlelight brings you a concert which has you truly believing you aren’t in Birmingham anymore. There is no dress code, but feel free to adorn yourself in full Land of Oz attire, think ruby slippers and lots of green.
Over the course of 60 minutes, you can relive iconic melodies that for many have defined the soundtrack of our childhoods at ‘The Wizard of Oz – A Classical Concert’. Tickets are sold in tiers and seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis for each zone. Doors open 45 minutes prior to the start of the show and late entry is not permitted so best to arrive early to secure the best seats with time to spare.
