You don’t even need to mention the fierce rivalry between Aston Villa and Birmingham City to know that Birmingham is utterly sports-mad. Last year’s Commonwealth Games was enough to prove this. Just in time for another of football’s great rivalries, a new “game-changing” sports bar will open this June in time for the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City.
BOX will open in Brindleyplace on June 3, offering not only the opportunity to watch games but play some as well. Plus plenty of chances to party too! This massive 10,000sq ft venue (taking over the old Pizza Express location) is spread over two floors and will hold up to 575 guests. An island bar will be surrounded by 32 top-of-the-range TV screens to catch all the biggest sports events live.
It’s not all about football either. Be it boxing, athletics or Formula One, BOX will show all the adrenaline-fuelled action. While it will also double as an activity bar, with two 18-foot maple wood European Shuffleboard tables. Continue the competition into the real world and immerse yourself in the sports vibe.
“As we gear up for a summer of fun, we’re absolutely thrilled to be opening our biggest venue ever,” said General Manager Alison Moody. “We love Birmingham and we’re confident BOX will quickly become a popular addition to the incredible nightlife and bar scene here, just like Manahatta has. It’s Game, Set and Match for the party people of Brum.”
Bringing a lively party atmosphere to Brindleyplace, BOX will host a live band every Friday and Saturday night to play favourite floor-fillers. While every Thursday night, a resident ‘Bandeoke’ will provide guests with the chance to perform on stage themselves. If you don’t fancy singing in front of everyone, you can also hire a private karaoke room for you and your friends.
The new sports venue will offer a range of great bar foods like Detroit-style deep-dish pizzas, burgers, premium kebabs and more. When it comes to drinks, expect classic cocktails and a menu devoted to tequila-based drinks, plus a world-class selection of beers. Upstairs at BOX, you’ll also find a bar and private dining room as well as an outdoor area for 30 seats.
This will be the third BOX sports bar to open, with locations already in Headingley in Leeds and Deansgate in Manchester. To learn more about BOX head here.
