Next time it’s late, you’re hungry, and want something quick, don’t settle for just about anything. Take a trip to Sparkbrook to try the family-run restaurant, Taqi’s Grill. Founded by three food-loving brothers in Birmingham, the halal hotspot has become beloved by all for its bold flavours and chargrilled meats.
Taqi’s Grill’s journey started simply enough with a charity food stand created to bring people together through good food. After some incredible feedback, they opened their first chargrill shop not long after—and are expected to open a second location in Hall Green very soon. We can’t wait to see what they bring!
Tuck into everything from signature smash burgers (including a Cheetos burger) to chargrilled doner, Cajun chicken wraps, and so much more. But beyond the mouthwatering meals on offer, Taqi’s Grill has largely become a local favourite thanks to their focus on quality, affordability and community spirit.
What has Taqi’s Grill won?

It’s unsurprising to hear then that Taqi’s Grill has won best takeaway in the West Midlands at UberEats’ 2025 Restaurant of the Year Awards. Chosen from over 130 nominated restaurants, it’s one of 12 regional winners to be recognised not for their outstanding food.
Salah Abdul-Rahman, Owner of Taqi’s Grill, said: “This recognition is a true reflection of the hard work, passion, dedication and spirit that drives everything we do at Taqi’s Grill. Serving great food to our community has always been at the heart of our journey, and we’re truly grateful to be recognised at this level.
“We’re incredibly honoured that Taqi’s Grill has been invited to the Uber Eats restaurant of the year finals. Our entire journey has been built on the Uber Eats platform, and this milestone truly reflects how far we’ve come through the hard work, passion, dedication, and spirit we put into serving our community with great food.”
Taqi’s Grill will now compete for the overall title of Restaurant of the Year and a £100,000 prize to invest in their business. Later this year, finalists will gather in London for a two-day celebration of their work, including a full judging day with industry experts such as Levi Roots, Eating with Todd, Clodagh McKenna, and 2024 Restaurant of the Year winner, Natty Crutchfield.
