Ozzy Osbourne sadly passed away at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025. One year on, Birmingham will officially celebrate the first ‘Ozzy Day’ with a city-wide, free programme of live music, public art, special performances and shared moments celebrating the life and legacy of the Prince of Darkness.
Wednesday, July 22, 2026, you are invited to explore a living tribute to the Aston-born rock legend—with activity at the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Birmingham New Street Station, Bullring, Selfridges and Martineau Place.
Sam Watson, Chair Central BID said: “Ozzy Day is a fantastic example of Birmingham working together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. By bringing together businesses, cultural organisations and public spaces, we’re creating a city centre wide experience that encourages people to celebrate the legacy of a truly global, Birmingham-born icon.”
How can I celebrate Ozzy Day?
Having performed his funeral procession, five-piece Bostin Brass will bring pop-up performances of Ozzy’s music to the streets of Birmingham; a special lunchtime show by musicians from CBSO will take place at Bullring; and you can capture free commemorative Polaroids alongside a specially dressed Ozzy the Bull at New Street.
Birmingham Music Archive will also be on hand at Birmingham New Street to invite fans to share their stories, memories and reflections on Ozzy’s extraordinary impact on the city and the world, contributing their messages to a commemorative guestbook that will become part of the day’s lasting legacy.
Alongside the live programme, OPUS has commissioned a series of short films documenting Birmingham’s tribute to one of its greatest cultural icons. You can also grab a bespoke limited-edition t-shirt produced with a triumphant Ozzy Osbourne graphic from his farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, at Selfridges, Bullring.

Photos with a specially dressed Ozzy the Bull
Have free Polaroid photographs with Ozzy the Bull in his specially created Ozzy look from 11am-2pm and 3pm-6pm at New Street Station concourse.
Pop-up performances around the city centre
A special CBSO performance takes place outside Selfridges in Bullring at 12.15pm.

Merlin’s Café Bar
From midday on Ozzy Day, Merlin’s Cafe Bar in Martineau Place will be dedicated to all things Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath and continue through the weekend of July 24 .
The volume will be on full to honour the music that shaped the world, from the heavy, doom-laden riffs of the early Aston days to Ozzy’s wildest solo anthems,
Merlin’s bar and kitchen will be firing on all cylinders with burgers, loaded fries and wings alongside themed specials like the Headless Bat Cocktail and boozy AU Vodka milkshakes.

Snap up limited edition Ozzy Day T-shirts
A limited edition Ozzy Day T-shirt will be on sale at Selfridges in Bullring until stocks last. This unique design, produced for Ozzy Day 2026, features all 52 Birmingham gigs that Ozzy played during his award-winning solo career and alongside Black Sabbath.

Ozzy Walk
An independently organised Ozzy Walk is being planned from Villa Park to the Black Sabbath bench to honour Ozzy Osbourne on Wednesday 22nd July 2026. The walk starts at 10 am from the Ozzy Mural (alongside the Holte Pub) on Trinity Road, Villa Park.
