To no one’s surprise, Britain’s most expensive streets have been revealed to nearly all be in London—with the average asking price of Winnington Road in Barnet at £12,538,095. That’s a lot of money. Probably more than I’ll see in my lifetime. The only spot in the top 20 outside of the capital is East Road in Elmbridge, Surrey, at £8,795,714.
“Britain’s most expensive streets always capture the nation’s attention and this year we see the return of Winnington Road in North London, as Britain’s most expensive street based on asking prices,” said Colleen Babcock, Rightmove’s property expert. “In fact, this year’s top 20 is taken up almost entirely by London addresses, showing the city still reigns as supreme when it comes to ultra-prime property.
The recent analysis has been based on Rightmove’s market data, and only includes streets where at least five homes have been available for sale across January this year. But things start to get significantly cheaper once you leave behind London and the Home Counties (which is always a good idea, no matter the price difference).
What is the most expensive street in the West Midlands?
Among the 20 most expensive streets outside of London, only two streets are in the West Midlands. The most expensive of the two (and seventh on the list) can be found in Shakespeare’s hometown. The houses on Tiddington Road in Stratford-upon-Avon, which stretches all the way from the town centre out to the village of Tiddington itself, on average, cost £2,306,667.
What is the most expensive street in Birmingham?
If you’ve just won the EuroMillions, but want to stay in Birmingham, though, you might want to consider looking at the houses on Westfield Road, which come at a steal at £1,650,000. If you don’t know where this leafy street, full of mock Tudor-style mansions, is, you’ll find it halfway between Edgbaston and Harborne (of course).
