Birmingham is around a thousand miles from the Mediterranean coast and usually a lot warmer, but this week, you might be better off skipping the holiday and staying at home. The sun is shining in the Second City, and it’s looking like Birmingham will be hotter than Athens and Ibiza this week.
With temperatures hitting 17°C today in Birmingham (Wednesday, April 22), the weather is only improving day-on-day until the weekend, when we can enjoy a 21°C heat in the UK (according to the Met Office)—not only rivalling several major Mediterranean cities, but at times bettering them.
On both Friday and Saturday (April 25 to 26), Birmingham will be just as hot as Athens and Barcelona (19°C and 21°C), while in Ibiza it’s only 17°C. On Thursday (April 24), however, it will be 4°C hotter in Brum than the Greek capital (15°C versus 17°C), while in Istanbul it’s 13°C and only 20°C on Saturday.
What will the weather be like going forward?

Praise the sun gods—Ra, Apollo, Sol, etc.—because the sunny days are going nowhere. While Birmingham can’t always compete with the Mediterranean, the alright weather will continue in the UK (Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, May 5)—with temperatures “near to or a little above normal”.
Further ahead (Wednesday, May 6 to Wednesday, May 20), expect a little more uncertainty, “increasing the chance of periods of heavy rain and perhaps strong winds at times.” With the wettest and windiest conditions in the northwest, and drier and more settled conditions in the southeast, how will that affect Birmingham?
