While we may have been subject to cold days and little sunlight of late, it seems our luck with the weather gods may be on the up. Despite it still being spring, you might not have to pack your bags and jet off to Barcelona or Lisbon for some early sun, as Birmingham and other parts of the UK have been tipped to enjoy an April heatwave.
Temperatures could reach 28°C, so you might want to start dusting off your bottles of sun cream, booking those outdoor terraces and planning a trip to the beach. Jim Dale, a senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, said some hot weather could hit the UK “fairly early” in 2022. And, given that April tends to enjoy highs of around 12 degrees, it seems it could be a very unusual spike for the time of year.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Dale said: “I think hot weather could come in fairly early as far as April is concerned perhaps. I know March is the start of Spring but I think we’re probably going to get properly into April before we start to see the searing sort of temperatures. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 26C, 27C, 28C in the middle of April.”
