When Duran Duran formed in Birmingham in 1978, few knew they’d go on to change the pop landscape forever. Nearly half a century later, the pioneering new wave band is still going strong, having announced their first full UK arena tour in three years—including a homecoming show at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on October 20.
The arena run will wrap up another landmark year for Duran Duran, following euphoric new single ‘Free To Love’ featuring Nile Rodgers and a huge headline show at London’s BST Hyde Park on July 5. Known for such global hits as ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ and ‘Rio’, the group will also perform in Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool and Leeds.
The UK tour is part of a wider run of European shows that includes Oslo, Stockholm, Hamburg, Cologne, Brussels and Paris. Special guests for the UK tour are Pigeon, a psychedelic five-piece from Margate, whose debut album, ‘OUTTANATIONAL’, is described as “a thrilling collection of party songs without limits.”
