It’s been a long time since the UK was a slave to cheap and watery lager. (Though we still love finding a budget pub now again.) These days everyone is a craft beer connoisseur. Able to appreciate the hoppy notes and sour aromas of a good pint. So every Brummie should be excited about the first-ever Craft Brew Festival coming to the Custard Factory this July.
The festival will bring together a selection of the best micro and independent craft breweries from across the UK. So expect a diverse range of beers, from hoppy IPAs and rich stouts to sours, saisons and everything in between. Offering revellers the opportunity to explore and discover new and exciting breweries.
“I’m thrilled to be launching Birmingham’s inaugural Craft Brew Festival at such an iconic Birmingham venue, that has such a rich food and drink heritage”, comments Festival Organiser, Simon Robinson. “Birmingham has a long and proud tradition of brewing, and we’re excited to be bringing together some of the most talented and innovative craft brewers from across the UK all under one roof and putting on one hell of a party”.
Tickets to the Craft Beer Festival include free samples and a chance to meet the brewers, as well as a souvenir glass and goodie bag. There’ll also be plenty of live music and entertainment, for when the hops rise to your head get you on your dancing feet. Plus, some games too. Remember tombolas? Well, the festival’s canbola is a tombola with a craft beer twist.
Taking place July 14 to 15, breweries announced so far include Luda Brew Co, Siren Craft Brew, Cloudwater, Beer Ink, Hogan’s, Mill Hill Brew Co, Hawkshead Brewery, Caps Off, Brew 61, Nightingale Cider Co, North Brewing Co with more to be announced soon. But if you’re more of a wino than a craft beer, the event will also have a large selection of discovery wines, as well as craft spirits.
