One of the worst things about Birmingham is that it has no beaches. Sure, there are some incredible coastal towns and beaches not that far away, but they’re not exactly within walking distance or a hop on the bus away. But what if I told you, that land-locked Birmingham now has its very own beach?
The Second City is even better! With all the fun of a seaside town this summer—sand, sunshine and funfair rides—you don’t need to worry about a two-hour journey (at least) anywhere. The return of Birmingham Beach and FunFair to Pype Hayes Park in Erdington will provide the ultimate summer vibes for all ages. And it’s completely free to visit!
What’s at Birmingham Beach and FunFair?
Dig out the bucket and spade, and squeeze into your swimsuit, because all your favourite attractions are back. Not only is there a proper sandy beach in Erdington, but a wide selection of classic funfair rides and games for all ages (all £3.50 or less)—from a Waltzer to a Dodgem and Big Apple Coaster—as well as a swimming pool.

You can claim your deckchair and sunbathe until August 31, seven days a week, from 12 pm to 8 pm. Meanwhile, the little ones and big kids can splash about with bumper boats, water walkers and giant inflatables. Plus, there will be plenty of family entertainment—including bungee trampolines, hot air balloons, and classic funfair stalls.
Other rides include The Air Ride, Magic Mouse, The Top Spin, Orbiter, The Yeti, The Paratrooper, The Runaway Train, The Acrobat and more. Hungry? Tucking into everything from churros and candy floss to burgers and doughnuts. Whether you’re a family looking for a quick beach trip or a group of mates after an exciting activity, Birmingham Beach and FunFair has it all.
