Fire up the batmobile, we’ve got the perfect day trip for fans of Gotham’s Guardian – the Batman Unmasked Exhibition has officially opened its doors in London! In less than a three-hour drive – or two-hour train journey – from Birmingham, you can enjoy a bat-tastic day out in the Big Smoke.
You can now celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Caped Crusader by exploring themed rooms decked out with a fascinating collection of original props, costumes, weapons and much more. Plus, you’ll get the chance to see the formidable Batmobile (The Batman 2022) and Batpod (The Dark Knight). There’s even a free-flow gaming and comic room, inviting you to step onto the streets of Gotham City and immerse yourself in the DC hero’s grim and gritty world.
What will you find inside the Batman Unmasked exhibition?
Batmaniacs, Batfans, whatever you want to call yourself – this is the place for you. At Batman Unmasked you will be able to explore the pivotal props, iconic vehicles, ominous-looking Batsuits and delightfully unhinged supervillain costumes from the Batman films spanning 1989 to 2022.
Leave behind reality as you journey through themed rooms that include the shadowy sanctum of the Batcave, Batman’s Heroes – home to the cowls, costumes and capes of Michael Keaton, Christian Bale and Robert Pattinson – and the multisensory labyrinth of Arkham Maze. Of course, there’d be no need for the Caped Crusader without the cackling villains who unleash chaos on a near-daily basis, so it’s no surprise there’s a room just for them as well. In Rogue’s Gallery, you’ll find Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy suit, Heath Ledger’s deranged nurse getup and Jim Carrey’s questionable Riddler costume, alongside a dangerously fun collection of props and weapons.
Along the way, you can capture some cinematic memories, with a variety of photo opportunities that will no doubt have you showing off your most heroic poses – or sinister smiles. While Batman is no stranger to the big screen, his story began in the pages of comics (you could say it’s where Batman Begins…ahem) so it’s only right there is also a comic book and gaming area for an extra dose of nostalgia and button-bashing fun.
Petrolheads will be pleased to know they’re stepping it up yet another gear (plus some cannons, grappling hooks and machine guns thrown in the mix). You can expect to see the stealthy Batpod motorbike from The Dark Knight, and The Batmobile from The Batman (2022), both on display at the London exhibition.
You can’t leave an exhibition without raiding the gift shop. At Batman Unmasked you can get your hands on exclusive merchandise that includes special 85th anniversary items and more classic mementoes. Make sure to fill your boots because the exhibition will only be gracing London with its presence for a limited time!
