Guy Fawkes Night (Wednesday, November 5) isn’t what it used to be. Never mind the increasingly forgotten ever-timely tale of a failed rebellion against an all-powerful state, but what happened to the days you could rock up to any old field without a ticket and watch the most spectacular fireworks display you’ve ever seen?
Well, like a good Bonfire Night of days gone by, we’ve found a FREE fireworks display (that doesn’t even require a ticket) just a stone’s throw from Birmingham—and it’s one of the biggest events in the West Midlands. Dudley Sports and Social Club, near Brierley Hill, is once again hosting its annual fireworks display.
On November 1, 2025, the event will kick off at 7 pm, with hot food once again being served by Fill Ya Ballies. Since it’s free, we’re expecting this event to be extremely busy—organisers ask attendees to “be mindful of our neighbours when parking and please do not block roads for emergency access.”
How do I get there from Birmingham?
About an hour’s drive from Birmingham, I recommend following the A456 and A458 towards Stourbridge, turning off beforehand towards Merry Hill. Dudley Sports and Social Club is located on Hill Crest Avenue, Brierley Hill, DY5 3QJ. Alternatively, take public transport by taking a train from Birmingham Moor Street to Cradley Heath, before hopping on the X10 bus to Brierley Hill.
What other firework displays are in Birmingham?
The once-legendary firework display at Edgbaston Stadium has once again been replaced by an epic, eco-friendly drone light experience above Birmingham on November 7 & 8—which we’re not complaining about! The pet-, child- and ear-friendly alternative, WILD: The Drone Light Show, is a 40-minute journey through five breathtaking worlds of wildlife.
Elsewhere, the biggest Guy Fawkes firework display in Birmingham takes place on October 29 at the Lea Marston eboot site, while Weoley Hill Bonfire and Fireworks and Wythall Community Association Bonfire and Fireworks both take place on Saturday, November 1, and Four Oaks Bonfire and Fireworks is on Saturday, November 8.
