You can hear it coming a mile off. Hundreds of revving motorbike engines, music blasting loudly from boomboxes and hollering, all hurtling towards you further down the road. But don’t be scared though, this is no Hell’s Angels. Santa’s On A Bike is the most Christmassy motorbike gang in the UK.
Every year, all across the South West of England, hundreds of motorcyclists meet dressed as santa, snowmen, elves and reindeer to their bikes, often covered in festive decorations, to bring festive cheer wherever they ride. While also raising money for local children’s hospices.
Santa’s On A Bike has already taken place in Bristol and Plymouth (Both December 3), but will be hitting the Midlands this weekend on Saturday December 10. The main ride will start at Cornmill Yard in Evesham, about an hour’s drive from Birmingham, at 12.45pm. Turn up from 11am, however, for bacon rolls and hot drinks.
From there, the motorbikes will ride around the local cotswold villages before heading on to Worcester for 2.30pm. The Santa ride will end at Acorns Children’s Hospice, which this Midlands’ Santa’s On A Bike ride is specifically raising money for. To donate head here.
If you’d like to get involved, all bikes, trikes and scooters are welcome – as long as you dress up, of course! Just remember to ask your friends and family to sponsor you (you can download a sponsorship form from the website). And, obviously, follow the highway code when you head out as Santa.
But if you would rather just see hordes of marauding Santa’s on bikes, blasting Christmas music, spreading festive cheer , wherever they go. Worcester will be the best place to spot them easily. But you’ll hear them coming long before you see the red swarm though.
