Forget the Frankfurt Christmas Market—Birmingham’s other festive market also returns this week, and many may argue it’s way better. Held on the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral for the past 5 years, Christmas in Cathedral Square Craft Market returns on Thursday, November 5, and runs until Thursday, December 24.
While it can’t compete with the Frankfurt Christmas Market on size, the craft market puts quality above quantity. With 50 days of trading, you will find more than 40 handpicked stalls with a focus on “locality, quality, uniqueness and exclusivity.” Better still, traders regularly change every week to encourage repeat visits.
What will I find there?

From artisan cheese to silver jewellery, handmade candles to street food, Christmas in Cathedral Square is always full of surprises. But you can always guarantee high-quality gifts, crafts and foods, with a preference for products that are handcrafted, produce sourced or made locally in Birmingham and the local region.
Highlights include the multi-level Helter-Skelter Bar (great for photos) and the truly unique Pigeon in The Park pop-up pub. But the sight of cute, wooden chalets, surrounded by glittery lights and the iconic site of St Philip’s Cathedral, should be more than enough to entice you to this market.
What time is it open?

Monday to Wednesday 11:00am to 9:00pm
Thursday to Saturday 11:00am to 9:30pm
Sunday 12:00 noon to 9:00pm
Xmas Eve 11:00am to 7:00pm
