Tat Vision first caught my attention with his golden, papier-mâché tribute to the ‘Four Lads In Jeans’ meme. Since then, I’ve seen the Brummie pop artist’s goofy and grotesque sculptures pop up everywhere from the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery to Britain’s Got Talent and beyond.
Who is Tat Vision?
Having graduated from Birmingham City University with a BA in Fine Art in 2012, Tat Vision (also known as William Douglas) has carved out quite the niche for himself with his papier-mâché art projects that often parody pop culture. But it’s also this unique voice that’s made him a go-to artist and minor celebrity in Birmingham.

You will know his work from the Mr Egg costume at the now-annual International Day of Birmingham; his audition at Simon Towell on Series 19 of Britain’s Got Talent; and his debut exhibition in 2025, Glued to the Box, at Centrala Space, which pop culture icons from the TV crammed into boxes (including a ‘Packed Butcher’).
Inspired by the creativity of Art Attack’s Neil Buchanan, Tat Vision’s work almost always has a childish quality about it—even when he’s sticking Steve Jobs’ head on a spike outside of an Apple Store—bringing joy and humour to everything he does. But he isn’t just stuck doing sculptures.
As much a performer as anything, Tat Vision’s name came from a YouTube show he had about his trawling through charity shops. But be it pub quizzes, wrestling matches, puppet shows, or museum workshops, he’s happy in front of an audience, and is always finding new ways to bring his mad ideas to new people.
What’s next for Tat Vision?

This Halloween, catch him at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery hosting a Murder Mystery Museum Gallery Tour on Saturday, October 31. What begins as a seemingly ordinary tour with an eccentric guide quickly unravels into a murder mystery that blurs the line between fact and fiction.
With Tat Vision, it is best to expect the unexpected, but you can keep up to date with all his future projects on his website.
