There’s nothing more spectacular than seeing blue skies pop with the colour of hundreds of hot air balloons. This weekend (August 23 – 25), the annual Telford Balloon Fiesta will brighten Shropshire skies – and you can visit for free on Saturday and Sunday!
On Friday, the event’s iconic Night Glow Spectacular will launch the Telford Baloon Fiesta into flight from 5pm – with all activities taking place at Telford Town Park’s QEII Arena. The family-friendly fiesta will feature children’s circus workshops, have-a-go activities, live music, a science show, and a drum and light show, before the Night Glow display at 9.30pm.
You will need a ticket for Friday, but you can buy a family ticket for up to five people for just £5. Individually, an adult ticket is £2, a child is £1, and anyone under 12 months can go free (but must still be registered). You won’t need to worry about any of that on Saturday and Sunday for Telford Balloon Fiesta Weekender.
Weather-dependent, both mornings and evenings (6am and 6pm) will start and end with spectacular balloon flights. In between (12 to 7pm), you’ll discover an exciting line-up of flight-themed activities, from the thrilling Wings Parachute Team to live music performances. There’s also a Kidszone, tethered balloons, a carnival parade, circus workshops, and more.

What else is there to do in Telford?
Only 40 minutes away from Birmingham (either by train or car), Telford sits close to numerous Shropshire landmarks you should already know, most notably The Wrekin and Ironbridge Gorge. But the town itself is home to the award-winning Exotic Zoo and the fairytale-inspired theme park Wonderland – making the area a great spot for day trips from Birmingham.
