If we could go anywhere (any place, any time), we’d choose to go to Woodstock. Held on a New York farm in 1969, it has since become a defining moment of the baby boomer generation and synonymous with the counterculture of the 1960s. It also featured performances from such iconic musicians as The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and The Who.
Unfortunately, we don’t own a time machine, but we’ll happily settle for the next best thing, Owlstock. Since its inception in 2019, the one-day festival has served as a tribute to the world’s most legendary music event at The Night Owl. With a line-up of unforgettable tribute acts from the era, as well as a huge range of activities throughout the day.
On Sunday, August 25, head into the heart of Digbeth to catch tribute acts such as Are You Experienced, celebrating the music of Jimi Hendrix; Wldflwrs presents The Last Waltz a tribute to The Band; Layla Tutt; and, Jackie (Raggle Taggle Freakout Fuzz). Also on the bill are Exile on Trinity Street- a local supergroup comprised of Low Red Moon, High Horses, Rhino, and The Ranters – covering hits from The Rolling Stones.
Hosted by The Night Owl, Owlstock will also offer delicious street food from Dining by Dalton, alongside themed cocktails celebrating “freedom, love and peace”. If that wasn’t enough, the schedule also includes a record fair from Birmingham Record Exchange and stalls from local makers Casey Joan Art and Zen. DJs Liam Mckeown, Ed Edwards and Callum Gallagher will be spinning tunes throughout the day too, honouring the best music from the unforgettable era.
Children are welcome until 8pm with tickets available from just £8 (making quite the affordable event) – and with it being a bank holiday weekend and all, the party will go late into the night. To get your tickets head here.
