From festive foods to TV specials, there’s nothing quite like Christmas, but during this magical time of year, we can start to feel a little sluggish. So shake off the icicles and strap on your skates, we’re heading to Warwick Castle this Christmas to glide around the open-air ice rink for skating right beneath its majestic Guy’s Tower.
Sure, there are a few ice rinks in and around Birmingham, but none can match this 1,000-year-old castle’s backdrop. A fairytale-like experience like no other, you can book a 45-minute ice skating slot from £11 – but it’s only available from November 23 to January 5, 2025. So don’t dawdle.
You don’t have to be Torvill and/or Dean either to visit one of the UK’s best Christmas ice rinks. There’s a handrail that goes all around the outside (for those who need steadying), while there are also skate aids for the kids. But the ice rink isn’t the only magical experience happening at Warwick Castle this Christmas.
What is happening at Warwick Castle this Christmas?
On top of housing ice skating, Warwick Castle will be transforming after dark this winter with a magical light trail through the grounds – filled with seasonal music and roaming Christmas characters. From a Nutcracker-inspired entrance to dancing lights on the castle walls, the 45-minute, festive light trail is the mood lifter we’re after this winter.
Of course, what’s Christmas without meeting the big man himself? Joining Santa’s elves for some festive magic, before Mr and Mrs Claus read Storytime with you. Or why not toast marshmallows and sip on hot chocolates at the enchanting Christmas market? Meanwhile, Warwick Castle’s expert Falconer will be hosting a breathtaking winter birds of prey display.
With so much on for Christmas at the Castle, alongside all the usual Warwick Castle activities, you may want to consider staying over. Book an overnight stay in the Knight’s Village on November 23, 24th, 29 and 30, and December 1 to 23, for themed evening entertainment and an elf wake-up call complete with presents!
