Not every brunch in Birmingham has to come with a bottomless barrage of prosecco. No, sometimes we simply want a quiet weekend morning, filled with some healthy bites and coffee, or some hangover-curing greasy grub to fuel us up for the rest of the day. So we’ve picked some of the best places in Brum to find that ethereal, late morning/early afternoon meal. Breakfast won’t feel the same after a trip to any of these.
1. Boston Tea Party
Not that Boston Tea Party, of course. This one that opened in Brum in 2013, not 1773. But many US patriots would be proud enough of the brunch grub served up here. Heavy stacks of American pancakes washed down with piping black coffee are quintessential in the US, and BTP delivers a masterclass.
You can also grab a range of potato hash dishes, the brunch classic that is shakshuka, or staples like eggs benedict and eggs royale (honestly, what’s brunch without eggs?). None of that takes your fancy? Breakfast is also served all day for any delayed boozy brunch requirements. You can also find some heartier foods like burgers and toasties.

2. Bill’s Restaurant
Bill’s, the popular chain, is simmering with options for brunch. Grab pancakes, a fish-finger sandwich, a fish pie, halloumi sticks, or a casual 8oz Sirloin and you’ll just be getting started. Alongside the vast range of food, there are quirky drink options, too. Think boozy hot chocolate, espresso martinis or bitter orange and rhubarb spritz. Bill’s Birmingham brunch is available every day from 11am-5pm, so start making your way through the enormous menu!

3. Urban Bar and Café
At Urban, a colourful, trend-inspired brunch is up for grabs. Tuck into the avocado, lime and tomato smash, with optional additions including poached eggs and streaky bacon. If that’s not your bag, there are cheap and cheerful brioche baps, as well as full English options, fit for champions.
We’ve got our eye on the egg muffin brunches, however, which cover a range of classics like, benedict, florentine and royale. There’s even a range of pancake stacks to get stuck into. Get down to one of the three Brummie spots for a slap-up brunch extravaganza — and throw in bottomless bucks fizz, bloody marys and espresso martinis.

4. The Early Bird Bakery
Famed for its creative croissants and pastries, The Early Bird Bakery serves up some of the most interesting brunch dishes in Birmingham too. Tuck into anything from summer berry croissant French toast to chilaquiles (A Mexican breakfast dish, featuring toasted tortillas, salsa, feta, fried eggs, and all sorts more). The Cowboy Breakfast is a full English with a spicy Tex-Mex twist, thanks to fajita spiced honey glazed pork, jalapeno butter, sauce creole flat cap mushroom, peanut butter BBQ sauce – plus, hash browns, Boston beans and a fried egg.

5. The Button Factory
A hefty brunch offer at The Button Factory. Available only Saturdays from 12pm, tuck into an American classic of waffles. Our favourites include the buttermilk waffles with caramelised banana and maple syrup, or topped with fried chicken, smoked bacon, poached eggs and hot sauce (for an early afternoon kick of heat). You can also go for a bottomless brunch, of course, with two (ÂŁ38) or three (ÂŁ42) courses, where you’re striking gold with unlimited prosecco and bellinis. And, while the drinks are disappearing, you’ll be guaranteed excellent brunch grub.

6. York’s CafĂ© and Coffee Roasters
A wide-ranging brunch that reaches around the world for its ingredients. York’s offers everything from Arabian eggs to lamb kofta tagine, to Turkish cilbir and California double smashburger. It has two locations, both of which are full to the Brum—sorry, brim—at weekends. Get down for all-day food with a unique style and exquisite flavour.

7. Medicine Bakery
Another brilliant bakery that can knock out a top-notch brunch! From big hearty English breakfasts to the Mexican classic, huevos rancheros, you’re spoilt for choice too. Fancy something simpler and a bit cheaper? Medicine Bakery can also rustle up eggs and sourdough. But you’ll plenty of surprises when you pop in. Our eyes are on the vanilla brioche french toast topped with bacon and maple syrup — what more do we need to say?

8. Kanteen
A super healthy, super tasty hangout. Combine your coffee with brunch items like poached eggs, aubergine on grilled flatbread, and cherry and coconut French toast to hit the Sunday morning spot. That’s what Lionel Richie was on about, I guess. Elsewhere on the Kanteen menu, there’s buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, as well as the homemade meatballs, sofrito sauce, on a toasted English muffin. Plus, like all these spots, there are tons of eggs. No complaints from our end on that front.

9. Gas Street Social
Perfect for a group party, Brum brunch style, head to Gas Street Social. This swanky cocktail bar delivers every sort of Brunch option you can imagine: pancakes, eggs, burgers, wings and more. Turn it into a bottomless blowout for ÂŁ19.95 extra, for two hours of endless beers and cocktails.

A quaint paradise dropped into King’s Heath. A cafĂ©-meets-deli that gives out a beautiful leafy garden of tranquillity. Catch some rays among nature as you tuck into that well-deserved stack of pancakes, syrup and fresh berries. Or, have a Kitchen Garden hash potato topped with bacon and poached egg.
